LHC grants bail to three Special Branch officials

The Lahore High Court (LHC) here Wednesday granted protected bail to three officials of Special Branch allegedly involved in a case of releasing false intelligence report about murder plot of former LHC Chief Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif. The court granting protective bail till August 23 and directed the applicant to approach the court of original jurisdiction for confirmation of their bails.
Federal Investigation Agency Punjab had registered the case against the accused persons included Special Branch Punjab Director Shahid Mehmood, and two other personnel Muhammad Azam and Ijaz Ahmad. The accused through their counsel pleaded that they had no role in the alleged murder plot of Justice Sharif but the FIA intentionally implicated them in the case.
They, therefore, prayed for protective bail and request the court to restrain the FIA from arresting them. Special Branch Punjab chief Colonel Ehsanur Rehman(retired), Secretary to Punjab CM Tauqeer Shah and a PML-N worker Talha Burki were also booked by the FIA. They all were accused of hatching a conspiracy to produce a false intelligence report about the murder plot in a bid to create differences among the federal and provincial governments and judiciary.
