Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh police on Saturday claimed to have arrested five notorious felons, who were allegedly involved in the murder of Rangers' personnel in Aram Bagh, in separate raids at various parts of the city.
According to SSP Khurram Waris, a team of SIU on a tipoff conducted raid near Ghani Chowrangi and detained an alleged extortionist namely Muhammad Yousuf alias Laoti son of Muhammad Hussain after brief encounter while his other accomplices managed to flee from the scene.
He said the accused person was involved in several crimes including extortion, robberies and others. Moreover, he said the detained person during initial course of investigation gave information about the hideouts of his other accomplices that led the arrests of four more persons with weapons.
He said that SIU team had recovered four Kalashnikovs, two TT pistols and a grenade from these persons, who were identified as Muhammad Shahid son of Muhammad Siddique, Tahir Mehmood son of Tariq Mehmood, Shehzad Khaskehli son of Muhammad Essa and Abdur Rehman Baloch son of Imam Bux.
He said although these persons were nominated in several heinous crimes, they were also involved in the murder of Rangers' man namely Madad Ali in Aram Bagh police limits. Some nine cases of extortion, robbery, recovery of illegal weapons and explosive and others were registered against them. Further investigation was underway.
