Swedish Prince Carl Philip was attacked by an unidentified assailant outside a nightclub in Cannes, on the French Riviera, a palace spokesman said Sunday. "An unknown assailant hit him without provocation early Saturday," spokesman Bertil Ternert told dpa. The prince, 33, was not harmed and said he planned to stay on in France, Ternert added.
The rest of the royal family have been informed, the spokesman said. Ternert would not comment on what security measures were in place. Carl Philip is the second oldest of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia's three children. He is fond of fast cars and sports and has made the headlines several times in connection with his love of partying.
