IIUI ranked among top 601-800 universities across world

ISLAMABAD: International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) after improving its position by 200 places has been ranked in top 601-800 universities across the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings, while IIUI stands first in international outlook pillar of the aforesaid ranking among Pakistani universities.

According to the sources, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has been placed in 601-800 position category by Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In addition, out of 21 universities across the country, IIUI has been ranked on 2nd position in terms of performance for year 2022. International Islamic University is also on the top among five more universities of Pakistan that have secured a spot, for the first time in the world's top 800.

For year 2022 rankings include 1662 Universities across 90 plus countries worldwide. Universities were evaluated on five ranking pillars including teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook.

In its annual publication of university rankings, Times Higher Education, notes that Pakistan has emerged as the world's fastest improving nation on its metrics of teaching, research, citation, industry income and international outlook. These results, Times claims, were generated after reviewing 108 million citations and 430,000 data-points from participating institutions from all over the world.

The recent positive results generated by IIUI are outcome of continued reforms and initiatives introduced by the university management that includes preparation of university's new strategic plan that also helped in gleaning exact view of the university accomplishments on scientific basis.

The university leadership believes that upcoming ranking will be much positive as new reforms and initiatives have entered into the mature stages through various steps taken such as implementation of the university's strategic plan and academic audits. The university is now all set and in better position to submit its accomplishments and achievements with an approach of quantifiable analysis that will lead to improved and realistic university rankings in future. The university has also started a comprehensive work on research and enterprise that shall also be helpful in improved ranking through linkage with industry, acceptance of international funded projects, collaborations in research and global engagements. The university leadership has appreciated the hard work of the team specially the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Development (QAD) for its untiring efforts to make it possible in a proper manner to this global ranking.

Commenting on the ranking, IIUI Rector, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that recognition of Pakistani educational institutions in the world ranking is a good sign in terms of progress of the nation. He urged that universities must come forward to serve the society "We will not disappoint the nation, we will come forward with positive developments soon in the field of academic excellence and quality higher education" said Masoom Dr Yasinzai.

IIUI President, Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, expressing gratitude for the achievement congratulated the academic and administrative staff of the institution and hoped that they would remain committed to the university in the future by continuing their hard work so that the institution gets the top slot in all world rankings in the future. He said that this ranking is a sign of a new dawn of success for IIUI.

It is pertinent to mention here the IIUI is the 3rd largest public sector university across Pakistan that has presence of more than 30,000 students on campus in separate male and female campuses with almost equal gender ratio. In IIUI's recent admission process around 30 thousand students have appeared in admission tests of more than 100 degree program that also includes a large number of international students. International Islamic University is on top among the International Islamic Universities in the world under the OIC charter or their affiliate institutions as well.
