LAHORE: Punjab Housing Minister Asad Khokhar has directed the Water and Sanitation Authorities (WASA) to disconnect illegal water and sewer connections, and prepare proposals and recommendations to overcome their deficits.
He was presiding over a meeting of WASAs and Punjab Horticulture Authorities (PHA) here on Monday. Managing Directors of WASA Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujranwala, and the Director Generals of PHA Lahore, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and DG Khan attended the meeting.
The Minister further directed the authorities to develop water treatment plant schemes in order to curb the wastage of water. He reiterated to change the obsolete water pipelines and make all out efforts for redress public complaints and grievances on urgent basis.
Khokhar further directed them to focus on revenue collection targets and get it achieved 100 percent. He also asked them to launch a crackdown against big defaulters and recover dues without any pressure. He further directed them to make projects for recharging of ground water. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the PHA Lahore and asked the other authorities to follow the PHA Lahore.
While briefing the meeting, PHA Lahore DG Jawad Ahmad Qureshi told the participants that PHA Lahore is working according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan for promotion of tree culture and clean and green Pakistan. He further apprised the meeting that 90,000 samplings have been distributed among the households in Lahore while geo tagging of the plants has also been completed, which would be helpful to monitor the growth of different species of plants.
