The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Wednesday approved as many as three projects worth over Rs 1.5 billion while seven projects were referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for approval, it is learnt. The CDWP met with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Nadeem-Ul-Haq in the chair.
According to sources, the meeting discussed 15 projects. The meeting approved three projects, seven were recommended for placing before the Ecnec and five were deferred. The three projects are: Development Assistance Facilities Library, IT new campus Lahore Rs 687 million and Teacher Training project worth Rs 670 million in Islamabad, Fata, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and one project relating to electricity was approved by the CDWP for Balochistan.
The sources said that the CDWP recommended four out of seven projects relating to hydel power generation ie, 5MW, 10MW and 20MW of Gilgit-Baltistan to Ecnec for approval. Similarly, CDWP also recommended Land Record Management and Information System worth Rs 1.12 billion of Punjab, Water Supply Scheme of Karachi and a project of 132kV Grid Station at Bashore in Balochistan to Ecnec for approval.
