ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tax Advisors Association (PTAA) has informed Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin that the banks in Lahore have not accepted many computerised payment receipts (CPRs) due to the failure of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) system.
In a communication to the finance minister, Javed Iqbal Qazi, chairman PTAA said that in Lahore, the concerned banks are not accepting the CPRs due to failure of their system, which means that proceeds are not being accepted by the system resulting in non-submission of returns.
There is a lot of pressure on all the tax practitioners, who are performing their national as well as professional duties round the clock for submission of returns of their clients.
Till date only 1.1 million returns have been filed, while it is not humanly possible to submit balance returns of 2.4 million by 30.09.2021. The FBR and its allied departments should facilitate the taxpayers and the tax practitioners to achieve the desired target by extending the date.
The IRIS System be updated in respect of calculation of correct tax liability especially for property income. For the disposal of pending assessments, the tax practitioners should be granted adjournments as requested by them and there should be no refusal from the department officers, Qazi added.
