The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to appoint a dedicated Chief Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) under supervision of FBR Legal Wing to ensure timely implementation of the orders of the FTO in the field formations. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the FBR has issued an updated organisational structure of the FBR Legal Wing to expedite disposal of cases at the level of the judicial fora and ensure speedy implementation of the orders of the FTO.
Under the new structure of the FBR Legal Wing, the FBR has created two posts of chiefs under FBR Member Legal. The FBR Chief Supreme Court/High Court would deal with the cases pending at the level of the high courts. The second FBR chief ie Chief Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) and Co-ordination would handle all cases of the FTO and act as co-ordinator among different departments particularly FTO Office.
According to the new organisational structure of the FBR Legal Wing, Secretary SC and Secretary High Court would report to FBR Chief Supreme Court/High Court. Two Second Secretaries would directly report to Secretary High Court and one Second Secretary would report to Secretary Supreme Court.
