KARACHI: Sindh Government on Monday assured full support to resolve all issues of the rice trade to enhance the crop output and exports.
Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh, held a meeting with a high-profile delegation of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) lead by Muhammad Anwar Mianoor, Senior Vice Chairman REAP at his office.
REAP delegation was comprised of Ex Chairmen, Safder Mehkri, Rafique Suleman, Members of Managing Committee, Fuad Garib, Dr Muhammad Hafeez, Deepak Kumar, Hassab Rauf as well as Ex MC Members REAP Ashfaq Ghaffar, Muhammad Usman Shaikh, Teka Mal and Members REAP Arif Husain Mahesar and Faisal Anis were present during the meeting. Whereas, Parvez Ahmed Seehar, Secretary Agriculture, Supply & Price, Government of Sindh was also present in this meeting.
During the meeting Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh listened the issues being faced by rice traders and said that rice is one of the most important commodity of Pakistan. He said that Sindh Government is already doing subsidised funding in various projects with the support of World Bank and Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF).
He further said that the Sindh government always gets good achievements though Public-Private Partnership projects. He assured his full support to facilitate rice exporters and requested a delegation to come with firm proposals to plan strategies in the right direction.
During the meeting, Muhammad Anwar Mianoor, SVC REAP thanked chief secretary for giving time for meeting with REAP delegation. He said that there is a big difference between Agriculture Departments of Sindh & Punjab Governments, but the REAP aim is to resolve all issues of rice trade with support of the Sindh Government.
