ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Thursday, awarded party ticket to special assistant to the prime minister on food security Jamshed Iqbal Cheema for contesting by-election from NA-133, Lahore.
In a tweet, the special assistant to the prime minister for political communication, Shahbaz Gill, said that a meeting of the PTI’s Lahore parliamentary board was held in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair. During the meeting, the parliamentary board unanimously, nominated Cheema as its candidate for NA-133 by-election, which had fallen vacant after the death of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Pervaiz Malik.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is likely to announce by-elections for NA-133 in a few days.
