As a result of a dispute with his political boss Minister Ayaz Soomro, Inspector General (Prisons) Ghulam Qadir Thebo has been transferred and asked to report to Services and General Administration department, Business Recorder learnt here on Friday.
Sindh government has posted Captain Abdul Majid Siddiqui (Retd) as Inspector General (Prisons) following the transfer of long-serving IG Prisons Ghulam Qadir Thebo. According to a notification available with Business Recorder Sindh government has posted Captain Abdul Majid Siddiqui (Retd) as Inspector General (Prisons) while Ghulam Qadir Thebo has been asked to report to Services and General Administration department.
In this regard, sources inside the Prisons department unveiled that Ghulam Qadir Thebo had been transferred due to a dispute with Minister for Prisons Ayaz Soomro. PPP's Ayaz Soomro is serving as Minister for Law basically but he was given additional charge of Prisons department just to please him. These days, Soomro is considered a close confident of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, said sources.
Earlier, Soomro had the charge of an important portfolio of Tourism where he got special funds for the new schemes from the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, sources said. Sources further said that there were disputes between the Minister Soomro and IG Thebo over many issues of transfers and postings, fake appointments, tenders and fake bills of contracts. When contacted, Ayaz Soomro termed it routine practice and denied that there were any disputes between him and Thebo.
