A three-day Eid gala is being organised here at Women Business Development Centre (WBDC), University Road Peshawar. Islamia College University (ICU) Peshawar Vice Chancellor Mrs Noor Jehan inaugurated the shopping gala in a simple but in an impressive ceremony.
Besides, Provincial Chief of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Javed Iqbal Khattak, WBDC Project Manager Nabeela Farman and a large number of women entrepreneurs and shoppers were also present. During the three-day Eid gala the products of local and non-local designers, bangles and Mehndi etc would remain on display in the family specific Eid shopping exhibition.
WBDC is a project initiated under the auspices of Smeda of the Ministry of Industries and Production and the current Eid Gala is the second of its nature since the establishment of the centre. Both women entrepreneurs and shoppers are taking keen interest in the affairs of the centre and are offering Eid shopping opportunity in a very cordial environment.
Talking to media, WBDC Project Manager Nabeela Farman said the objective of organising the Eid Gala, besides, promotion of the products of local women entrepreneurs was the provision of cheap and quality products of the local designers to the people. She said women entrepreneurs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were not less in talent from the women of any part of the country, but their only the requirement was the exposure, which was being extended through the centre.
She was confident that like last year, the Eid Gala of the current Ramazan would also achieve complete success, adding that response of women to the exhibition was very encouraging. The Eid Gala, she said would remain open till midnight of August 18.
