LHC asks government to provide uninterrupted electricity

The Lahore High Court here on Friday directed the Federal government to ensure the arrangements for the provision of uninterrupted electricity in the country. The court passed these directions in a petition filed by Chairman Judicial Activism Panel Azhar Saddique seeking direction to declare exemption of electricity supply to the Presidency, the Prime Minister House as illegal and against the fundamental rights.
The court observed that Nepra is sleeping for the last fifteen years and failed to control electricity theft. The government have also failed to control electricity theft and added that government has no mechanism to stop the electricity theft, line losses and the distribution of the electricity supply the court added. The court further observed that government have also no policy to get ride of load shedding. The court making respondents to the distribution companies directed them to produce the record load shedding schedule, as court like to know the reasons of load shedding till September 12.
