Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) on Friday launched a vigorous campaign to recover Rs 136.9 million from 906 permanent defaulters, said Fesco's CEO Iftikhar Ahmed. Addressing a press conference at Fesco Headquarters, he said that 4,077 domestic consumers owed the power utility Rs 38.7 million.
Similarly, 57 commercial defaulters had a liability of Rs 5.915 million. As many as 131 industrial defaulters had to pay Rs 61.2 million, 242 agricultural connections owed Rs 30 million. Similarly, 2 residential colonies had a default of Rs 759,000 while a temporary connection had a liability of Rs 361,000. He said that connections of these defaulters had already been severed.
According to him, the company had now decided to disconnect all domestic, industrial, commercial and agricultural connections used by these defaulters. He said that teams had been formed to ensure maximum recoveries, adding that the facility of recovering dues in instalments had also been stopped. Fesco, the CEO said, was adopting "carrot-and-stick policy". According to him, the public sector default was "negligible". He said that there was no need to initiate a recovery campaign in this regard. He said that details of defaulters had been posted on Fesco's website (www.fesco.com.pk), adding that defaulters' lists had also been provided to the media.
