Cotton Analyst Naseem Usman told that market remained bearish and the trading volume remained low.

He said that rate of cotton in Sindh remained between Rs 14000 to Rs 17500 per maund and the rate of cotton in Punjab was registered at Rs 16400 to Rs 17500 per maund. The rate of the new crop of Phutti in Sindh was remained between Rs 5000 to Rs 7,000 per 40 kg. While Phutti prices in Punjab were between Rs 6,000 to Rs 7500 per 40 kg.

Similarly, prices of cotton in Balochistan were remained at Rs 16000 to 17,500 per maund while Phutti prices were remained in between Rs 6,200 to 8500 per maund, said Naseem Usman.

The rate of Banola in Sindh was in between Rs 1400 to Rs 1800 per maund. While in Punjab rates of Banola were in between Rs 1500 to Rs 2,200 per maund.

As many as 200 bales of Rahim Yar Khan were sold at Rs 17500 per maund, 600 bales of Fort Abbas were sold at Rs 15700 to Rs 17000 per maund, 1200 bales of Faqeer Wali were sold at Rs 15700 per maund, 400 bales of Yazman Mandi were sold at Rs 15700 per maund and 1200 bales of Haroonabad were sold at Rs 15600 to Rs 15650 per maund.

Organic agriculture is the way to fight change posing a serious threat to Pakistan. This could be a potential source of earning foreign exchange for the country. The bio control method should be adopted for the success of organic agriculture.

These views were expressed by Pervez Ahmed Seehar, Secretary agriculture Sindh while addressing participants of the workshop organized by the Center for Agriculture Bio Sciences International (CABI). The workshop aimed on technological prospects of integrated pest management.
