LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting at his office on Wednesday to deliberate on consultation with PML-Q on the new Local Government Act.
Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed apprised the CM about salient features of the law. The CM expressed satisfaction on positive progress in this regard. He directed to continue consultations with PML-Q adding that the new Local Government Act has been drafted with consultation and hard work and it would empower the people at the grassroots.

Provincial Minister Raja Basharat, secretary local government and others attended the meeting. Talking to Chairman One Man Commission Dr Muhammad Shoaib Suddle, the CM said that the draft of the minority rights commission has been devised to protect the rights of the minorities in Punjab.
A five-percent increase has been made in minorities’ budget and instructions have been issued to fill vacant posts under the five percent quota for minority communities, he said, adding: “A sum of Rs 2.5 billion is earmarked in the current financial year for minorities’ welfare.”
