The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial here on Thursday directing Ministry of Religious Affairs to allocate Hajj quota purely on merit disposed of a petition of three private tour operators. The petitioners Imran and others submitted that they duly paid their income tax but the ministry declared them ineligible for grant of Hajj quota.
The petitioners said they approached the ministry again and again but their grievance was not addressed so far. They prayed to the court to direct the ministry to award them Hajj quota. After hearing the contention the chief justice directed the ministry to allocate Hajj quota among the petitioners if they were not income tax defaulter.
