Activities of Karachi Port

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 162,183 tonnes of cargo comprising 126,833 tonnes of import cargo and 35,350 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 126,833 tonnes comprised of 30,649 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,112 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,093 tonnes of soybean seeds; 1,009 tonnes of ammonium nitrate; 2,860 tonnes of flours; 6,389 tonnes of wheat and 77,721 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 35,350 tonnes comprised of 23,464 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,673 tonnes of clinkers and 1,163 tonnes of rice. As many as 5,080 containers comprising of 2,455 containers of import and 2,625 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 825 of 20’s and 815 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 00 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 497 of 20’s and 364 of 40’s loaded containers while 150 of 20’s and 625 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six vessels namely Clemens Schulte, Young Harmony, Hilda, Nordneptun, Al Mahboobah, and Red Ruby have berth at Karachi Port with containers, general cargo, rice, and tankers. There were four ships namely Nikos P, CT Frontier, Teera Bhum and Chemroute have sailed out from Karachi Port.
