KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 99,611 tonnes of cargo comprising 41,865 tonnes of import cargo and 57,746 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.
The total import cargos of 41,865 tonnes comprised of 21,974 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,619 tonnes of bulk cargo; 654 tonnes of soybean; and 11,618 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 57,746 tonnes comprised of 57,446 tonnes of containerised cargo and 300 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 6,648 containers comprising of 1,581 containers of import and 5,067 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 515 of 20’s and 411 of 40’s loaded while 110 of 20’s and 67 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,066 of 20’s and 1,163 of 40’s loaded containers while 259 of 20’s and 708 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three vessels namely Cul Huizhou, Caledonia and M.T Karachi with containers and tankers have berth at Karachi Port.
There were eight ships namely Baltic Bridge, M.T Quetta, Navig 8 Sky, Whutthi Bhum, Diyala, Sea Ambition, Oel Kedarnath and Swansea have sailed out from Karachi Port.
