At least eight people including a worker of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Friday, police and rescue sources said. An activist of PPP was killed at Korangi in the limits of Korangi police station. He was identified as Salman Hussain 22, son of Mian Hussain.
Police said the deceased was killed with a dagger near his house. The deceased scuffled with his friend Faisal over a petty issue and as a result, succumbed to his injuries on way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). A man was killed and five others including two women were injured in separate acts of firing in Orangi Town.
Police said first incident occurred when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate firing at butchers shop in Qasba Colony in the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station, leaving four including, Sameer, Salahuddin, Gul Mira and Anum injured. The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment.
Following the incident violence began in Orangi area and armed men resorted to indiscriminate firing, as result a man identified as Niaz died while Anwar, Wakeel, Mueeb and Mubarak sustained injuries. The deceased and the injured were shifted to JPMC for treatment. Soon after the incident, heavy contingent of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) were deployed in the locality.
A man was gunned down by armed men in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 2 in the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. Police said Abdul Qayyum, 26, son of Mir Ahmed was shot dead by armed riders. The deceased was the resident of Khuda ki Basti and a laborer by profession.
A man was gunned down in Frontier Colony in the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station. Police said Noor 40, son of Qamar, was sitting outside his house, when armed men killed him. The body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem. A man was shot dead near his house at Khuda ki Basti in the limits of Surjani Town police station. The deceased was identified as Raheem 28, son of Jumma Khan.
The body was shifted to ASH for medico legal formalities. A body of a man stuffed in gunny bag was found from KMC workshop in the limits of Eidgah police station. Police said the deceased, who was later identified as Siraj, son of Azmat, resident of Hub, Balochistan, reached Lyari to meet his relatives. He added that the culprits first kidnapped him and after killing threw his body near KMC workshop. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy.
Similarly another gunny packed body was found from MA Jinnah Road in the limits of Aram Bagh police station. Police said the identity of the victim could not be ascertained. The body was shifted to CHK for medico legal formalities. Meanwhile, injured of the firing in Lyari succumbed to injuries during treatment in Civil Hospital Karachi. Deceased Noman, 22 sustained injuries when armed assailants opened indiscriminate firing on a Qawwali programme in Mosaline, Lyari area.
