KARACHI: The Business-men Panel (BMP) clinched the victory in the annual elections of the country’s apex trade body, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), here on Thursday, retaining almost all the main seats, third year in a row.
The FPCCI elections 2022 were a tough battle between Businessmen Panel (BMP) and United Business Group (UBG).
According to unofficial results, Irfan Iqbal Sheikh of BMP was elected as FPCCI president. He bagged 189 votes whereas his opponent UBG candidate Dr. Noman Idrees Butt got 159 votes. M Suleman Chawla of BMP was elected as FPCCI senior vice president with 199 votes, while his opponent UBG candidate Muhammad Hanif Gohar got 149 votes.
Tough fight likely between BMP, UBG in FPCCI polls
On the association seats Nadeem Qureshi, Shabbir Hussain, Engineer M A Jabbar and Shaukat Ali Omerson, all from the BMP, were elected. On one vice president seat each of Sindh and Small Traders Mohsin Maqbool Shaikh of UBG and Haji Muhammad Yaqoob of UBG have already been elected unopposed, respectively. On women chamber seat UBG candidates Rukhsana Nadir and on Balochistan province seat Jamal Uddin of UBG were elected, respectively.
On Federal capital area seat Amin Ullah Baig of BMP, on Punjab province seat Khalil Ahmed of BMP and on KPK seat Umer Masood Ur Rehman of BMP were elected.
