In 1962, President Ayub Khan's government gave a constitution to Pakistan. This was probably a disputed document, but that is not my point here. While he left power in 1969, he himself disregarded his own constitution and did not hand over power according to the provisions of the constitution. This shows that something is fundamentally wrong with us, Pakistanis. We have some serious manufacturing fault.
We do not respect written words, covenants and rules and regulations etc. More than four decades have passed since the demise of Ayub Khan's constitution. But nothing has changed; no improvements have come in our national psyche of bypassing the laws, and rules-regulations etc. Rather, things have gone from worse to worse. How can we claim to be a democracy-loving people, if we fail to respect documents, words and covenants? Any answer?
