Pakistan's embassy in the United Arab Emirates is set to launch a web-based as well as an SMS-generated community database aimed at indexing over a 1.2 million Pakistanis settled in the UAE. Ambassador to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan said the portal would help to keep the Pakistani citizens in the UAE abreast of latest development and important announcements round-the-clock basis, says a press release issued by Pakistan embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The ambassador said the community portal was to be hosted by the mission's website and was meant to act as an efficient interface among the Pakistanis, Emirate people and the embassy. He said the software was as simple as punching the names and contact details on the website or by mere sending an SMS which made it more convenient for the community for data entry. "This new initiative shall be up and running within three weeks."
The Ambassador elaborated that the new software would, at a later stage, be integrated with the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis. He said this would help in resolving difficulties of the community back home as well as enabling quick disposal of the complaints lodged by the Pakistan community with the mission. Ambassador Jamil encouraged the Pakistani community to make best use of this cutting edge initiative by logging on to the upcoming website as well as an SMS code to get them registered for quality services.
