PPP Punjab disassociates itself from 'prophecies' of Wassan

28 Aug, 2012

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Punjab leadership has disassociated itself from the prophecies of former Interior Minister Manzoor Wassan regarding writing letter to Swiss courts and new elections. It may be noted that Wassan exploded a political bomb by saying right after the appearance of the prime minister in the apex court that the government will write a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
The former minister also said that the government should hold the general election on April 4, 2013. The Co-ordinator of President Asif Ali Zardari for the province of Punjab Naveed Qamar said Wassan's statement is all about his popular habit of dreaming unusual things. "It is not party policy but wishful thinking of Wassan," he said.
Media Co-ordinator to the Co-chairman Munawwar Anjum also rejected any such thinking on the part of the party. He said the Prime Minister is set to leave for China and formal consultation on amicable solution with the allies and party members would start after his return.
Other party members pointed out that the party is already advocating for election as per schedule and there would be no early election in the country. Therefore, there is no prophecy in Wassan's statement regarding holding of next general election. Wassan is supposed to be close aide of President Zardari. President has recently visited his constituency and made some important announcements there. Wassan had also called President Zardari as "Chorman" instead of Chairman due to slip of tongue when he was serving as Interior Minister Sindh.
