NEW DELHI: India reported over 300,000 new COVID-19 infections for the fourth straight day even though the caseload over the last 24 hours was slightly lower than a day before, data released by the government on Sunday showed.
India reported 333,533 new COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours with 525 dead, according to the figures released by the government.
India's total death toll due to COVID-19 now stands at 489,409, the health ministry said.
On Saturday, India had reported 337,704 new cases of COVID-19 and 488 dead.
The government in the statement said the recovery rate for infected people currently stands at 93.18%.
Since the start of this year, different parts of the country are under varying degrees of restrictions to contain infections caused by highly transmissible Omicron variant.
India's capital Delhi has imposed a weekend curfew and even though it was widely expected that Delhi will ease some restrictions, the local government decided on Friday to continue with the curfew.
The federal government said it tested 1.87 million people in the last 24 hours and it planned to continue to expand its testing through the country.
Filip Forsberg added a goal and an assist as the Predators won their second straight after a four-game losing streak. Nick Cousins also scored for the Predators, who have won the last six meetings with the Red Wings. Juuse Saros made 28 saves. Adam Erne scored for the Red Wings, who lost for the second time in as many nights.

Philip Tomasino and Mattias Ekholm had the assists. Nashville soon made it 2-0 when Forsberg slipped the puck to Duchene in front, who scored his 18th goal.
Matt Tennyson was credited with the second assist. Erne was whistled for hooking later in the period but it turned into a blessing in disguise for the Wings.
After killing off the penalty, Tyler Bertuzzi fired a pass to Erne as he exited the penalty box. Erne then beat Saros on the stick side for his fourth goal.
Marc Staal got the second assist. Forsberg backhanded a rebound of a Tennyson shot at 10:44 of the third to give Nashville a 3-1 lead. Duchene had the second assist on Forsberg's 20th goal.
Duchene scored an empty-netter for his 19th goal with 1:48 remaining.
