Samina Ismail Hirani of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School has clinched first class first position in the Intermediate (Class XII) Science (Pre-Medical) Group examination for 2012, while Kiran Amin and Kinza Murtaza of the same school secured second and third positions. Samina obtained 984 out of 1,100 marks with 89.45 percent, Kiran 982 or 89.27 percent and Kinza 976 or 88.72 percent.
Only two boys were able to make it to the top 10 list, one is Adeel Ahmed Khan of Adamjee Government Science College who secured fourth position while Syed Shahrukh Pervez of the same college got eighth position. According to the announcement of results by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Karachi (BISEK) for the annual examination of higher secondary certificate Part II for Science pre-medical group 2012, a total of 16,953 students registered and 9,316 passed the examination which commenced on July 5, and concluded on July 20.
Female candidates outnumbered male candidates in passing percentage with 58.46 percent while boys retained 43.72 percent success rate. A total of 13,542 female candidates appeared in the exam, of which 7,919 passed. A total of 3,271 male candidates appeared in the exam and 1,397 passed. A total of 1,001 candidates including 874 girls secured A-1 grade, 2,422 including 2,091 female students obtained A-grade, 2,718 B-grade, 2,339 C-grade, 805 D-grade and 29 E-grade.
