KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Industries & Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said the government is taking all possible steps for the improvement of infrastructure in Sindh Industrial Zones.
Talking to a delegation of Nooriabad Chamber of Commerce, the minister said development projects worth Rs 878 million are being implemented in Nooriabad Industrial Zone. Development work includes improving infrastructure, provision of drainage and clean drinking water.
He said a large number of industrialists were shifting to Nooriabad with the motivation of Sindh government. Gas and water supply issues will be resolved while a consultant will be hired for the betterment of Nooriabad.
Dharejo said the Sindh government was working for the development of industrial zones. The problems of the industrialists of Nooriabad would be solved on priority basis. Elimination of encroachments in industrial zones would also be ensured.
He said Nooriabad is a peaceful area and an ideal place for industrialists. Meanwhile, a delegation of Larkana Chamber of Commerce called on Jam Ikramullah Dharejo at his office.
Talking to the delegation, the minister said that establishment of Larkana Industrial Estate was the result of vision of Pakistan Peoples Party. There are 94 plots in Larkana Industrial Estate. About 250 applications have been received so far.
He said that plots would be given on merit basis. Establishment of agro-based industries will be encouraged.
He said belting of plots would be done soon. Establishment of Larkana Industrial Estate would provide employment opportunities for Larkana and its environs. He said that efforts were being made to declare Larkana Industrial Estate as Special Economic Zone.
Declaring it a special economic zone would benefit the industrialists. Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed that industrial zones be set up across Sindh. Pakistan Peoples believes in providing employment.
Delegation of Larkana Chamber of Commerce Bashir Ahmed, Ali Raza Khokar and Ali Asghar, MD Site Munawar Mahesar, Kanwar Zia-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Mahmood and Mohammad Ashraf of Nooriabad Chamber of Commerce were also present on the occasion.
