Implementation of POS: LTO sets up advanced control room

KARACHI: Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi has established an advanced control room for seamless implementation of the Point of Sale (POS) scheme, announced by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

According to the details, the team deployed in the control room will monitor the real-time activity of Tier-1 Retailers on a daily basis and register complaints about non-implementation of POS scheme or non-issuance of POS generated invoices.

Moreover, the team will receive information, complaints from the general public or higher authorities through telephone, email, or post, regarding non-implementation of POS or non-availability of POS scheme in any retail outlet of any taxpayer. The information shall be shared with the concerned enforcement zone for necessary action under the law and procedure.

A rapid response team is also placed in LTO to resolve grievances raised by the general public and deal with inactive POS machines and conduct inspection of outlets of taxpayers to ensure implementation of the POS Scheme.

The team will not only submit a visit report to the LTO after visiting the business premises of the retailer through a focal person but will also provide assistance to the outlet management if it is required for the implementation of the POS scheme.
