The Governor listened to their problems and assured them of full co-operation. The Governor said that tribesmen were patriotic and loyal to their homeland and should be given the same basic rights as any other nation.
Stressing the need for maintaining peace in Fata, he said that others should not be allowed an opportunity to exploit "our internal situation". He said: "We knew that Pakistan cannot remain aloof from the rest of the world, but even then we faced the world pressure boldly and paid (back) irritants in the same coin." He said tribesmen had rendered many sacrifices for their beloved country, adding that they (tribesmen) could play a vital role in establishing peace in the region by supporting government policies and government activities in Fata.
