Despite huge long outstanding dues of Rs 39 billion, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is maintaining uninterrupted gas supply to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) in the interest of citizens and to protect national economy, the spokesperson of gas utility said.
The SSGC is supplying natural gas to KESC on an average of 200 million cubic feet on daily basis. The written agreement between both the utilities is only for 10mmcf daily.
Although the KESC has been releasing its current bill payments regularly during past 6 months, but it has not paid its long outstanding dues that have now tuned up to Rs 39 billion.
"Apart from such huge long outstanding receivables; the SSGC is maintaining uninterrupted gas supply to KESC only in the interest of citizens of Karachi and to protect the national economy", the spokesperson said.
The SSGC is not considering the commercial aspect in this regard; otherwise on non-clearance of dues, SSGC has a right to stop the gas supply to KESC.
