The Karachi Port handled 134,310 tonnes of cargo comprising 110,786 tonnes of import cargo and 23,524 tonnes of export cargo including 3,827 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 110,786 tonnes comprised of 26,153 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,452 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,252 tonnes of DAP; 10,200 tonnes of coal and 69,181 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,524 tonnes comprised of 19,596 tonnes of containerised cargo; 848 tonnes of cement and 3,080 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 3,827 containers comprising 1,877 containers import and 1,950 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 764 of 20's and 519 of 40's of loaded while 75 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 500 of 20's and 219 of 40's loaded containers while and 324 of 20's 344 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Seven ships namely Lantau Arrow, APL Seattle, YM North, Jolly, Caravel Pride, Bunga Lavender and Vinalines Brave carrying five container ships, one oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels viz Hyundai Colombo, Salis, Caravel Pride, King Alfred, Bunga Lavender, Chemstar Jewel and Tim Buck with four container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Five ships namely King Alfred, Four Island, Chemstar Jewel, Chemroute Pegasus and C Emerald carrying one container ship, two oil tankers, one ethanol carrier and one DAP carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Hyundai Colombo and Salis with two container ships respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Eight vessels viz Royal Crystal, Zeynep A, MT Karachi, Morning Express, Kota Arif, Red Tower, Lord and Sayan-1 carrying two ethanol carriers, one naphtha carrier, one crude oil tanker, one container ship, one sugar ship, one coal carrier and one bunker ship respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while three vessels viz Cap Verde, APL Brisbane and Fotini Lady with two container ships and one jet oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
