06 Sep, 2012

Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a suo motu case against absorptions after Secretary Services & General Administration Department told the court that the Sindh Governor had promulgated an ordinance giving a legal cover to such absorptions.
A three-member bench, comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim & Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed, was hearing a case against laws that allowed induction of non-cadre officers in cadre posts on deputation and then their absorption. Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Durrani said that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan promulgated Sindh Civil Servants (Amendment) Act 2012 on September 04, 2012. Adjourning the hearing indefinitely, the SC bench observed that cases of all officers, which were heard by bench, would not be treated as ex-parte.
