ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the issuance of SRO 598 (dated May 19) on banned items by the Ministry of Commerce, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has nominated focal persons at all international airports across Pakistan to facilitate genuine passengers and ensure timely complaint redressal.
In this regard, the FBR has issued instructions to customs authorities at all airports on Monday.
Needless to add that the FBR strongly believes in taxpayers’ facilitation, ease of doing business, and thus, promoting a culture of tax compliance in the country, the FBR added.
The government has already clarified that SRO 598, which pertains to the ban on the import of luxury items, does not apply to the inward shipments of energy savers and some preparation material used in animal feed.
However, the ban on the import of dog and cat food for retail purposes remains in place.
In a clarification, the Ministry of Commerce also stated that the SRO 598(1)/2022 shall not apply on the import of goods for which an Airway Bill has been issued prior to the issuance of the said SRO, which was May 19.
