ISLAMABAD: German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has cut short her visit to Pakistan, Greece, and Turkey after she was tested positive for the Covid-19 on Tuesday.
The German foreign minister arrived Tuesday for a scheduled two-day visit.
Upon her arrival in Islamabad, Foreign Minister Baerbock held delegation-level talks with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and senior officials of the Foreign Office accompanied Foreign Minister Bilawal in the talks.
However, later in the day, reports appeared that Foreign Minister Baerbock is cutting her trip short after she was tested positive for coronavirus.
Through a tweet, Foreign Minister Bilawal wished her a quick recovery and good health. “Learned that Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has tested positive for Covid. I wish her a quick recovery and good health. Building on our excellent talks today, I look forward to our continued engagement and future interactions to further solidify Pakistan-Germany partnership,” Foreign Minister Bilawal said in a tweet.
Foreign Minister Baerbock was also scheduled to leave for Turkey and Greece at the conclusion of her Pakistan visit.
