MNAs criticise CDA's performance

The Members of the National Assembly on Monday severely criticised the performance of the Capital Development Authority and demanded of the government to reconstitute its board for transparency. While replying to a calling attention notice regarding allotment of commercial plots by the CDA to its favourites without inviting tender, Parliamentary Secretary Khurram Jhangir Watto said that the Prime Minister has taken notice of the issue.
He said that the Prime Minster has summoned the CDA Chairman and the Cabinet Secretary to inquire about the matter. He said that the Secretary Cabinet has conducted inquiry in this matter. He said that after inquiry report, a strict action would take against those elements who are involved in the scam. Answering to a question of the member, he said that total of 6,000 cases of irregularities of the CDA are in litigation. Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi said that the CDA is not generating its revenue and only running its affairs by selling its plots.
Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that there is need to reconstitute CDA board for making it transparent. Nadeem Afzal Gondal claimed that billion of rupees are involved in corruption cases of the CDA. "There is big mafia in the CDA and there need of a special session of the House for discussing these issues.
