Dr Nazir terms SUTA leaders 'enemy of education'

11 Sep, 2012

Sindh University (SU) Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir A Mughal has termed the SUTA leaders as liar and enemy to education and said all those including the ex leaders of SUTA body who criticise at newly opened campuses of the Sindh University should get to know that over 16,000 students apply every year for getting admissions but a small number of only 5000 students are being admitted where as 11,000 students remain out of university per annum; with the establishment of Sindh University campuses and universities in different parts of the province, we would be able to educate a large number of students at their doorsteps.
Addressing the meeting of faculty deans, members and teachers at senate hall, Dr Nazir Mughal said that luckily the Sindh University was given a chance to open campuses especially in those areas which come under legal jurisdiction of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur (SALU) on account of its name and contribution in the field of higher education.
Giving an example of Larkana and Sukkur, he said those areas were in the jurisdiction of SALU according to law, despite Sindh University was given this assignment only for its standard and good reputation both nationally and globally. Dr Mughal said on account of false allegations leveled against him by so-called SUTA leaders and suspension of classes for four months has tarnished the image of this university to a great extent because if repetition of allegations reverberates, the people are compelled to pay heed towards it.
