HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks closed lower on Friday, tracking world markets as investors continue to show concern over high inflation and the likelihood of further interest rate hikes.
The Hang Seng Index dropped 0.89 percent, or 168.69 points, to 18,761.69.
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 2.3 percent, or 73.52 points, to 3,126.40, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange also lost ground, dropping 2.3 percent, or 46.19 points, to 2,005.60.
