Veteran film star Safeerullah Siddiqui alias Lehri passed away at a local hospital on Thursday. He was about 83 years of age, family members said. He was laid to rest in Yasinabad graveyard on Thursday after funeral prayer held at Bait-ul-Mukarram mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal after Namz-e-Asr. A large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral.
Late Lehri was hospitalised at a local hospital for over 22 days. He was suffering from sugar, hypertension and heart ailment. The deceased was a celebrated comedian who had won various awards. His last film 'Dhanak' was released in the year 1986. Provincial ministers Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Mukesh Kumar Chawla and Chief Minister's Special Assistant on Media, Sharmila Faruqui, have expressed sorrow and grief over the passing away of Lehri. They said the services of the deceased in the realms of performing arts would be long remembered.
