Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to help Pesco curb power theft

The provincial government will extend all possible help to Pesco to curb power theft and ensure early recovery of electricity dues so that common consumers could be protected from over-billing, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Finance Minister Muhammad Humayun Khan said on Friday.
He was presiding over a special meeting convened to develop a consensus between provincial government and Pesco authorities before a public hearing in Nepra. The meeting was attended, among others, by Chief of Pesco, Peshawar, Brigadier (Retd) Tariq Khan Sadozai, Secretary Finance Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad and Project Director of the Energy Monitoring Cell (EMC) Karamat Rizvi. During the meeting, Chief of Pesco, Peshawar, informed the meeting that the power utility needed the help of the provincial government to help curb the incidence of power theft, besides improving its recovery ratio.
