Govt urged to de-seal Centaurus Mall

ISLAMABAD: President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Ajmal Baloch on Thursday urged the government to de-seal the Centaurus Mall.

While addressing the media he said, the government instead of facilitating the people have sealed the mall.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi, former bureaucrat and member administration, planning and environment to the board of CDA, while tweeting said, “In the history of Islamabad, the burning building have never been sealed, but full cooperation is given in their rehabilitation – the fire department of CDA has been under me for almost 15years, the unlawful sealing of Centaurus Mall by the incompetent administration of Islamabad is only political victimization.”

He was also the founder of the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management by upgrading a small department of CDA fire in 2007. According to SOP, a departmental inquiry is conducted after every fire incident but has never been sealed.

He urged the authorities to de-seal it so that it can be functional.

The National Labour Federation (NLF) also demandedthe government to arrange opportunities for the bread and butter of the workers who lost their jobs due to the temporary closure of the Centaurus Mall as fire erupted in the high-rise building on Sunday.

In a statement, the NLF President, Shamsur Rehman, regretted the loss of properties and the closure of business activity in the mega shopping mall. He said that after the mall had been sealed for purpose of inquiry and it would also take time for repair and renovation work, a large number of workers are feared to have lost their jobs.
