ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee (NSC) has decided to revitalise the anti-terrorism system at the federal and provincial levels besides forming the Apex Committee and activating Anti-Terrorism Agency (NACTA).
The meeting of the NSC presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and attended by the federal ministers, service chiefs, heads of intelligence agencies and other senior officials on Friday reviewed the overall law and order situation in the country in detail. The concerned officials gave briefings on the law and order situation.
The meeting also decided that apex committee would be presided over by the prime minister and the NACTA will work in collaboration with the provincial-level Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTDs).
The NSC has also decided to revitalise the anti-terrorism system at the federal and provincial levels. The meeting decided that while reviewing it, measures should be identified so that the system can be developed on more efficient lines. The system will also perform monitoring functions to ensure continuous improvement.
The meeting approved effective measures for fool-proof security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. In this regard, Nacta will be responsible for coordination while the implementation will be done through the provinces.

The NSC decided to equip the anti-terrorist system with modern technology. Where necessary, gradation should be done. In this regard, provision of resources will be ensured while steps will be taken to increase capacity.
The meeting appreciated the role of all the law enforcement agencies including the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Police for the establishment of peace and order in the country and for the security and defence of the motherland and paid tribute to the officers and soldiers who were martyred for this great cause.
The meeting paid tribute (salute) to the families of the martyrs and acknowledged that the martyrs have created stories of bravery and bravery for the country and nation. It was reiterated that their sacrifices would not go in vain.
The meeting noted that the nation and the state institutions are one soul and one voice for the protection of life and property of the citizens, the protection of the geographical integrity of Pakistan, the rule of law. The entire nation is not only united and single minded on these goals but their achievement will be ensured at any cost.
The meeting reviewed the incidents of disruption of law and order in some parts of the country including Swat and condoled with the affected families and recited Fatiha for the deceased.
The meeting made it clear that the life of every citizen of Pakistan is very precious and those involved in shedding the blood of the people would be dealt with strictly as per law. The meeting noted that citizens along with their brave soldiers have made unprecedented sacrifices and played a historic role in the war against terrorism. The meeting was also attended by the member National Assembly Mohsin Dawar, leader of Awami National Party Mian Iftikhar Hussain, said the Prime Minister’s Office.
