Taraqi Pasand Organisation and other civil society organisations jointly organised a motor cycle rally in Multan city on Sunday. They were observing the democracy week in Pakistan to mark the International Day of Democracy.
Hundreds of youth took part in the rally. The theme of the day was "Dialogue and Inclusiveness-Central to Democracy". Professor Salahuddin Haider, Muhammad Jamil, Shahid Murtaza, Shah Wali Rajput, Naeem Iqbal Naeem, Farrukh Langah, Zafar Shaheen, Muhamad Abbas, Muhammad Ali Rizvi, Malik Adan Ijaz, Nafeesa Begum, Dr Aalia Perveen, Nusrat Firdaus, Shehzadi Kiran addressed the participants and observed that solution to our problems lies in continuity of democracy and it is the best revenge in modern times. They said that undemocratic interventions in past not only jeopardised the development process but also weakened the foundations of democracy in the country. They said the current democratic government fully realised its demotic responsibilities and took some bold initiatives to give democracy a chance to flourish.
Participation in the decision making procures will improve the standard of life of common man, they stated, urging the youth to come forward and actively participate in the dialogue on key issues to put the country on the track towards development.
