189 dengue cases reported in Karachi: commissioner

As many as 189 cases of Dengue have come to the fore in Karachi this year so far. This was stated by the Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh, says a statement on Sunday. He said that keeping in view the increasing cases of Dengue it has become imperative to foster necessary awareness among the people in this regard.
The Commissioner said that all the organisations concerned would take steps under a joint strategy for the campaign regarding the treatment, precaution and awareness in order to help control the cases of Dengue.
He was of the view that work in this regard would be undertaken on war footing.
Roshan Shaikh said that an attractive pamphlet would be printed for distribution among the schoolchildren so that they could take these to their homes and ask their parents for the necessary precautions.
He stated that the Ulema and Khatib would be requested to deliver sermon from the pulpit for creating awareness among the people regarding Dengue. The Commissioner said that arrangements have also been made for carrying out spray to combat the Dengue virus.
