Rimsha Masih case: police asked to file charge-sheet by September 21

18 Sep, 2012

The court directed police to submit a charge-sheet against Rimsha Masih, a Christen girl accused of committing blasphemy, till September 21. The Civil Judge, Aamir Aziz, earlier on Monday reserved the judgement in the blasphemy case against Rimsha Masih.
He ordered the police to submit a charge-sheet till September 21 when Munir Jaffri, investigation officer of the case requested for some time to present the charge-sheet. He also informed the court that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) had constituted an investigation team headed by a senior superintendent of police (SSP). The team has completed the investigation. The court also instructed police not to harass the witnesses of the case.
During the hearing, Rao Abdul Rahim, the counsel for the petitioner Hammad Malik, pleaded that the bail of the girl should be cancelled and requested the court not to allow more time to police to submit a charge-sheet. He further told the court that the police had already asked for more time to submit the charge-sheet during the previous hearing. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 21.
