LAHORE: The Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan Georg Steiner called on Governor of Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman here on Thursday and during their meeting issues of mutual interest, including promotion of cooperation in various fields, especially trade, came under discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that Pakistan values relations with Switzerland and its cooperation in socio-economic development.
“The process of rehabilitation of flood victims is still going on while efforts are underway for getting the flood victims out of psychological effects of the calamity,” he said, adding that as the chancellor of universities he had mobilised the vice chancellors and students in this regard.
The governor maintained that Swiss products are preferred in Pakistan due to their quality and Pakistani businessmen should increase foreign direct investment. He said that Swiss businessmen should exchange technology and good practices in Pakistan.
“There are vast opportunities for Swiss investors to invest in Pakistan.” He further said that expediting the visa process for Pakistani businessmen to Switzerland will further boost bilateral trade.
Georg Steiner said that the people of Pakistan are very hospitable. He said that his country attaches great importance to its cooperation with Pakistan and is willing to expand it further.
Meanwhile, Governor Punjab approved three bills passed by Punjab Assembly in public interest. These bills are: the University of Layyah Bill 2022, the Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence (Amendment Bill 2022) and the Punjab Public Financial Management Bill 2022.
