Exemption of electricity load shedding is yet awaited on the part of industry, as neither the Prime Minister nor the Federal Minister for Water and Power are interested in extending this facility in near future. According to the industry sources, both the offices are not extended audience to the industry representatives on the matter despite repeated requests.
The industry is of the view that reduction in power outages due to decrease in mercury in the country amidst heavy rains. Therefore, they said, the prime minister should fulfil his promise of resuming exemption from load shedding to industry, as he had promised ahead of the holy month of Ramazan.
Industry sources said some serious efforts would be made once new leadership at different businessmen forums and associations in place by the start of next month. Meanwhile, power shortfall remained 3442MW with 11871MW on generation and 15313MW on demand side. According to the Energy Management Cell, hydel generation is likely to improve further with improve levels of dams in the wake of ongoing spell of rains in the country. Further, they said, chances are high that pressure on the system would reduce considerably with drop in mercury ahead.
