Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf accompanied by the coalition partners on Tuesday appeared before the Supreme Court in contempt of court case with foolproof security arrangements and high alert in the Red Zone area. This time too, like in the past, senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members along with senior coalition partners accompanied the premier on the occasion of his appearance before the Supreme Court in NRO implementation case.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Asharaf along with his coalition partners appeared before the court at around about 09:15 am. While entering the court, the Prime Minister talking to the media said that he respects the judiciary and he came here to uphold the honour and dignity of the Supreme Court.
Foolproof security arrangements were made as two walk-through gates were installed outside courtroom and law enforcement agencies conducted an aerial surveillance of the Red Zone. Coalition partners including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Dr, Farooq Sattar, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senior Vice President, Awami National Party (ANP), Haji Muhmmad Adeel, Munir Khan Orakzai of FATA, PPP leaders Information Minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Water and Power, Ahmed Mukhtar, Governor of Punjab, Sardar Latif Khosa, Finance Minister, Dr Abdul Hafiz Sheikh, Interior Minister, Rehman Malik and others accompanied the PM.
Before the Prime Minister came in the courtroom, the bomb disposal squad and Prime Minister's security staff gave security clearance. Law and enforcement agency official told Business Recorder that from 7:00 am in the morning, people were barred from entering the Red Zone, except those with entrance passes.
