KARACHI: The United Business Group (UBG) has begun preparing for elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) that may be held soon, said its president.
A meeting of the group’s core committee was held under the chairmanship of UBG President Zubair Tufail, which discussed the bill for amendment to the Trade Organisation Act that has been presented by Commerce Minister Naveed Qamar in the National Assembly.
The meeting was informed that the date for the FPCCI elections may be announced soon after the passage and notification of the amended bill.
According to spokesperson for UBG Gulzar Feroze, Zubair Tufail said that the group has started its activities across Pakistan and expressed the hope that UBG will garb all the seats in the elections.
He said that the business community of the country is facing serious problems and that the ruling coalition at the Centre has failed to solve these problems. Chief Patron of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry S M Tanveer said that the UBG is a representative group of the business community of the entire country and will participate in the upcoming elections with full vigour and enthusiasm.
