A roadside bomb attack in southern Afghanistan on Friday killed five civilians, including children, local authorities said. The explosion struck their vehicle while they were travelling from Nawa district to Lashkar Gah, Helmand's provincial capital. "Two children and three men were killed in a bomb attack," Helmand's provincial police spokesman, Farid Ahmad Farhang, told AFP.
Seven other civilians, including women and children, were wounded and taken to hospital. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but similar incidents in the past have been blamed on Taliban insurgents.
