Taiwan stocks up

Taiwan stocks ended up 0.35 percent on Friday, with LCD panel maker AU Optronics jumping 5 percent after it was fined $500 million in a US price fixing case, half of the amount of the highest potential fine that prosecutors had sought. The main TAIEX index rose 27.04 points to 7,754.59, after opening up 0.49 percent. Electronics counters were up 0.45 percent, with HTC gaining 3.59 percent.
Financial shares edged up 0.2 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up by T$0.173 to trade at T$29.335. Foreign investors were net buyers on Thursday, bringing their total buying to T$36.38 billion this month.
